What advice do you have for other Teva employees who are trying to pave their path and grow from within?

Don’t wait for someone else to pave your path. Take the initiative! Start by identifying your goals and then shape your professional development to achieve them. We’re fortunate here at Teva to be part of an organization that’s ready to support us every step of the way. From professional development resources to mentoring programs, the means to reach your goals are readily available. All you need, as we say in Commercial Training & Development, is to own your own growth.

What is one risk that you have taken that has helped you to grow the most during your career journey thus far?

The biggest risk I’ve taken in my career also turned out to be the best professional decision I’ve ever made. Twelve years ago, I was working as a representative in Ohio when I was offered the opportunity to become a training manager. I was eager to take on the role but knew that doing so would mean relocating to New Jersey and uprooting not only myself, but my husband and young son, from our home and friends. It wasn’t easy, especially as a woman, to ask my family to take this risk. But I’m so thankful I did. Making this move opened up doors not just for me but my entire family. Looking back, I can confidently say that you get out of your career what you put in, and that you have to be ready to take risks.

What are some factors that you attribute to your success in the pharmaceutical industry?

I’m fortunate to have a career I’m passionate about. To succeed, I believe you must love what you do and let this passion drive your actions. That said, success isn’t solitary. Throughout my career, I’ve had colleagues, mentors, and leaders who’ve continually inspired me and guided my professional growth. Finally, I find that openness to change is a crucial asset in our industry. As the last few years have shown so well, the needs of our customers continually evolve. Our readiness to adapt has allowed us to stay ahead of the curve and succeed in helping improve the lives of patients.

What is one piece of advice you would give to the next generation of women starting their career in the pharmaceutical industry?

As hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” So, take chances when opportunities arise, whether that means changing roles, taking on new responsibilities in your current role, or simply seeking out a mentor or participating in voluntary trainings. Understand that as part of the next generation of women starting your career, you have greater opportunities than the women who came before you. Don’t be afraid to dream big—then find a way to make those dreams a reality!
